Multi-Cluster Load Balancing
The video commentary section is a note section for videos I enjoyed watching.
Like many posts on this blog, it's my thoughts at the time - Potentially even unedited before the video completes.
- Ingress VS Gateway - Ingress deprecated, Gateway supports all this out of the box.
- Dedicated LB cluster - One cluster for all ingress traffic
- Agent for tenant cluster events - An agent is responsible for listening to tenant cluster events and forwarding those to LB cluster which speak xDS protocol.
- Complex - More complex than just using a cloud provider load balancer. Some initial complexity required but long term benefits are very flexible and scalable.
Thoughts
- Looks to be very focused on self service
- All the benefits of Gateway API
- Does require a dedicated cluster as noted in the complexity setup
